    Finance Committee Update

    October, 2014

As we approach the end of 2014, we wanted to update you on the financial picture of our Church.  Despite an extremely cold winter, which resulted in a heating deficit of $30,000, we are projecting an overall deficit of $10-15,000 by year-end.  We are grateful for: all ministries for managing their budgets so well; generous estate bequests; new income from the RCCO concert and the lecture series; and generous support to local outreach from a portion of your Easter and Anniversary offerings this year.  There is still work required to meet our givings target and to generate new and sustainable income, and together, we can accomplish this!

We are well into the budgeting process and see continued cost pressure from inflation and the forecast of another cold winter.   Therefore, if you haven’t already done so, please submit your pledge card for 2015 givings (even if you are not making any changes) as your input will help us to accurately plan for next year.

The Take It From The Top campaign has reached 72% of its target in pledges and 59% in donations received.  We are still in need of $440,000 in new pledges to reach the total goal of $1.6 million.  If you are looking to do some year-end income tax planning, we remind those with non-registered portfolios of the added tax benefit of donating stocks or mutual funds “in-kind”, as this is a great way to support the campaign.   Please see the “thermometer” posted around the Church for more details and contact the office to make, or update, your pledge to TIFTT.

We are blessed by your passionate support of the ministry of Met and look forward to working together to close out the year with balanced books and strong momentum to carry us into the new year.

     Respectfully, The Finance Committee.
